GRADUATE CORE ATTRIBUTES

Resilient

Whole Person

Healer

Integrative nursing has taught me the importance of providing care for people to consider their full spectrum of needs - mind, body, and spirit. The program has taught me to ask wholistic questions during assessment and see if we can identify contributing stress factors that may impact a patient's health.

Evidence-informed Integrative Nurse Provider

As a lifelong learner, I will continue to educate myself on current issues within the nursing profession and research integrative nursing practices with evidenced-based, peer-reviewed articles. This will allow me to provide accurate and unbiased information to my patients and colleagues.

Relationship- Centered Caregiver

l strive to create a mutual relationship with all of my patients. All patients have different background and it is important to address each one differently. Open communication and trust is something I establish at my first interactions with my patients. I want to make sure that they know that I am here to provide quality care and provide them with the dignity they deserve.

PROGRAM VALUES

Resilience

Like many, healthcare workers encounter situations of high stress and pressures. I have been implementing integrative techniques I have learned throughout my BSN-IH program to incorporate into my professional development. Taking a mindfulness moment in high stress situations has allowed me to recollect myself and reanalyze the situation for a better outcome.

Integrity

My moral beliefs and values is very important to me and has shaped me into the person I am today. My role in the healthcare field has taught me to uphold my responsibilities to my patients and employer, keeping confidences, and commitment to honesty. I have provided an environment for transparency and honest communication between my patients and colleagues.

Compassion

This is a value I will continue to expand on throughout my professional career. By being compassionate, it has allowed me to better understand and listen to my patient's needs. This has helped me determine how to provide quality care and improve health outcomes. Additionally, understanding that we are meeting our patients in unfortunate events where they are not their normal self.

Balance

It can be a challenge trying to balance your social life with academics. I have dedicated time to organizing my schedule so that I can maintain that balance. I like to organize my days into my planner and set timeline for assignments. Even though it is important to succeed in your academics, it is also important to prioritize your mental and physical health. I have been implementing mindfulness moments throughout my days and time for self-care.
